How Much Does a Live Wedding Painter Cost?
We all love the idea of a unique and memorable experience, especially when we can create that memorable experience at our own wedding. Live wedding painting has been on the rise for an entertaining and unforgettable experience to include in your wedding day. It does sound magical and would be a very unique addition, soooo…. what’s the catch? How much do I have to pay someone to paint something live on our special day?
Midwest wedding painters are currently charging $1,500-$8,000 for services like theirs. Stephanie Gaffney, a live wedding painter located in New Orleans, summarizes ‘the why’ beautifully when she says, “Live wedding artists are uniquely talented in that they must paint extremely quickly, in ever-changing environments, under immense pressure, with large numbers of spectators watching closely.” That’s a lot for a gal to have riding on her shoulders! While we take pride in our professionalism and confidence, painting live at an event is really not as simple as it may seem.
My base package begins at $1,200 tapping out at $2,000 for my largest canvas size. This is not including any additional travel expenses or additional guests requested in the composition. What I like to tell people is that it is not just about the painting you are purchasing. My price includes reliable and timely communication, expert artistry in the product they are purchasing, the ease of knowing you (the client) will have to do very little work to make this dream happen, and an individual who cares deeply about your happiness and client experience.
The bottom line is, your wedding WILL be unique no matter if you decide to hire a live painter or not. This is a sacred day between you and your significant other, so no matter how much or how little money you spend, I guarantee you will remember it for the rest of your life. Having a painting created on your day is only one small way to preserve those memories. The true value of live wedding painting is having the ability to pass down this memorable keepsake to your children and grandchildren to come. To preserve one of the most important days in your life!
